Backpack Luggage: For Those Seeing The World Up Close

Most every purchase we make says something about who we are. What you wear, the food you eat, the music you choose, all speak volumes about who you are. Even the luggage you choose can tell a lot about you.


A person sporting leather luggage on their travels sends a message of elegance, style and wealth. Mismatched luggage or cardboard boxes clearly shout: student! It's easy to spot skiers in an airport and when you see someone with a few hardside metal cases, you hope they don't hold weapons, but camera equipment.

But there is one item of luggage that really speaks volumes about the person carrying it. Backpack luggage is most certainly not for everyone. It takes a certain person with a certain background and traveling purpose to choose a backpack as their choice of traveling luggage.

Backpacks are mostly worn by people who will be doing a lot of traveling and sightseeing by foot and need to carry their possessions in the most comfortable way. When you see someone in the airport with a backpack on, you wonder what type of adventure they're heading out to.

Backpacks have a very unique shape compared to other bags. They are usually deeper and filled from the top, although you can find backpacks that resemble more of a suitcase with arm straps in the way they open. Various pocket and compartments all around the backpack fit a wide array of personal items and necessities.

As mentioned, carrying a heavy load is easiest done on the back, as carrying it by hand is much less comfortable. However, this mostly goes for those traveling over uneven terrain. On smooth ground the simplest way to take your luggage with you is to pull it on wheels. Not long ago this wasn't an option for backpackers, but now there are some highly advanced backpacks that have super lightweight pull out handles and wheels for pulling the bag along as you go.

Backpack luggage is typically used by those who plan to see the world up close and really do lots of sightseeing, most especially in natural environments, where they may not have a hotel to return to, but be traveling from lodging house to lodging house.

The sporty, hiking type are definitely the ones who will be needing a backpack for their travels, but they don't have to settle for the backpacks of days gone by. No longer do you have to suffer through carrying all your belongings in a bag that is heavy even before it's been packed and that has uncomfortable straps. The latest bags are made to distribute weight very evenly and have excellent straps and belts to make carrying your possessions easier than ever. And with the wheeled version, getting around can be even easier.
